Responsibilities associated with this position are typically performed in an office setting or designated administrative area and requires occasional visits to additional company facilities, vendor facilities and customer sites. Movement through industrial or manufacturing areas is required along with the use of appropriate personal protective wear and consistent observance of established safety policies at all times. Heroux-Devtek, Inc. at Beaver Aerospace & Defense, Inc. maintains compliance with FAA and DOT regulations by ensuring a drug-free workplace. This position may require occasional travel to other facilities.

Summary of position

The Supplier Quality Engineer aids in the new, probationary, and rejected supplied transition processes to ensure supplier performance are reported and corrective actions implements appropriately and in a timely manner and support all aspects of business development by establishing and maintaining professional relationships with suppliers and management.

Main responsibilities

• Aide in the new, probationary and rejected supplier transition processes, working with managers and suppliers
• Work with Senior Leadership as well as Quality and Materials personnel, to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented
• Maintain and update critical (top 25) supplier audit system and schedule when requested and required
• Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement regularly and/or when requested
• Monitor, communicate, and improve key supply chain KPI’s, including Supplier OTD (Past due), DPMO and Scrap
• Establish specific short and/or long term supplier quality goals and objectives with suppliers, reporting to management, developing strategies to fulfill the objectives



• Implement Quality Initiative meetings at suppliers and Champion problem solving and root cause analysis (RCCA) activities to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances
• Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
• Develop and maintain professional long?term supplier relationships
• Generate and implement cost reduction ideas for business
• Aide manufacturing in the evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials by following a defined new product development process, ensuring compliance to all FAA/DOT regulations and specification of design
• Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the supply base
• Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams
• Actively manage suppliers to ensure compliance and no regressions with the implementation of new processes and communicating with management
• Working with Lean Champion by assisting with and/or conducting Lean 101 training, as well as Lean assessments, to define gaps, deficiencies, and suggesting improvements and developing a plan of action roadmap to becoming and sustaining a Lean enterprise
• Working with Lean Champion and management in facilitating supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability of consistently meeting requirements
• Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6?Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma with five years experience in Aerospace (QA in aerospace industry preferred)
• Knowledge and Proficiency in applied use in various Microsoft Office Products, including but not limited to: Excel (Macro Programming), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, One Note, SharePoint, etc. as well as other software programs
• Efficient understanding of geometric and dimensional tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
• Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration Regulations
• Familiarity with ISO/AS9100 or equivalent QMS
• Experience or working knowledge of close tolerances in an Aerospace and Defense setting, preferred
