Optis is looking for an engineer specialized in the design of aircraft structures. The employee will be called upon to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and optimize structures as part of aeronautical product development and aircraft modification projects certified under the  FAR 23, 25 & 27 standards. The employee will also be called to collaborate with customers and certification authorities in the implementation of the identified solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Carry out the mechanical design and integration of aeronautical systems
  • Design and modify certified aircraft structures according to industry best practices :
    • Analysis of thin-walled structures (composites and/or metallic)
    • Damage tolerance analyzes
    • Vibration and modal analyzes
    • Design of fasteners and support systems
  • Actively participate in internal design reviews, with customers ans with certification authorities (DAR, TCCA);
  • Produce the necessary documentation related to the certification with the responsible authorities:
    • List of external loads
    • Justification report for structural analyzes
    • Assembly and installation manuall
  • Generate drawings according to ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Support experimental testing and implementation of solutions for customers.

Qualifications requises et exigences

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 years of experience in the workplace
  • Knowledge of industrial practices in the design of aeronautical structures
  • Have experience in the geometric drawing and tolerancing of parts and assemblies
  • Knowledge of CAR/FAR23 and CAR/FAR27 certification standards (asset)
  • Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical ® software
  • Oral and written bilingualism
  • Good technical / scientific writting skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility
