MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

The Department of National Defense (DND) operates a fleet of eighty-five (85) CH146 Griffon Helicopters (Bell 412CF).  In order to provide ongoing in-service support to the Griffon fleet, while also advancing numerous projects related to the improvement of existing or integration of new capabilities within the fleet, the Canadian Government Programs (CGP) organization is responsible for providing in-service support for project implementation as it relates to all Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) elements associated with modification embodiment fleet-wide.

Reporting to the CH146 Engineering Services Manager in Mirabel and working in conjunction with the Airworthiness Specialist and the In-Service Monitoring Program Lead, the Aircraft In-Service Monitoring Program Specialist have the following functions:

Summary of job description

  • Develop and maintain the Aircraft and Engine Structural Integrity Programs (ASIP, ESIP), the Aircraft Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MSIP) and the Aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) Integrity Program required under the CH146 sustainment contract.
  • Create and update the DND Aircraft Integrity Management Plans to meet DND Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM) requirements.
  • For ASIP, support the structural usage monitoring and structural condition monitoring effort, and modify as required for the Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) project.
  • For ESIP, support the development of the regime rules and support discussions with the engine OEM, and modify as required for the GLLE project
  • For MSIP, put in place the mechanical systems monitoring program and modify as required for the GLLE project, including update the Enhanced Zonal Analysis Procedure (EZAP).
  • For EWIS, put in place the monitoring program and modify as required for the GLLE project, including update the Enhanced Zonal Analysis Procedure (EZAP).
  • Continue the implementation of new and revised business process flows for the data collection, data reduction, analysis against baseline usage spectrum and generation of deviation reports and corrective course of actions for the CH146 fleet.
  • Coordinate and lead the participation of other BTCL engineering departments to deliver the services to DND.
  • Support the Non-Standard Repair (NSR) process and communications/taskings between the DND units and commercial repair facilities and BTCL Product Support/Structural Repair group.
  • Review and analyze Usage, SCM, and NSR data for trends and make recommendations on continuing airworthiness of structurally significant Items (SSI) and dynamic components.
  • Act as a technical specialist on all structural related CH146 Design Change projects and technical investigations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in aircraft design (structure, mechanical systems, electrical systems) and analysis of non-standard repair schemes
  • Working knowledge of Fatigue substantiation and development of component lives
  • Knowledge of DND Airworthiness Program and certification regulations is a definite asset
  • Demonstrate capacity to update and write processes and procedures for airworthiness regulations
  • Be able to lead projects with minimum supervision
  • Able to manage stakeholder expectations and drive solutions
  • Programming skill is an asset (Excel VBA)
