Heroux-Devtek, the world’s 3rd largest producer of landing gear, serves the civil and military aerospace markets from production facilities in North America and Europe. With its most recent acquisitions, Heroux-Devtek is bolstering its status as one of the foremost landing gear, actuation and hydraulic system designers and manufacturers in the global aerospace industry.
Located in the suburbs of Cleveland, the Strongsville based facility recently expanded from 50,000 ft2 to 100,000 ft2 to handle surface treatment, finishing and painting, as well as subassembly of the Boeing 777 landing gear, the world’s largest commercial landing gear. The site became the central point of a major chain of production. Parts and components are machined in our plants across Canada and the USA and the critical finishing operations are performed in our Strongsville facility. Once the major subassemblies are completed in Strongsville, the landing gear leaves for its final destination to our Everett, WA facility, only five minutes away from Boeing’s Final Assembly Line.
Summary of position
Responsible for key supplier relationships and contract negotiations as well as defining, identifying and implementing key metrics, tools and systems to create alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
-Serve as a team leader for the procurement team to manage monthly KPIs (OTD, Inventory, PPV, etc.) and provide guidance on best practices supply chain support
-Preparing, conducting/leading supplier contract negotiations with best in class price, payment terms, quality levels, and delivery terms in alignment with corporate objectives
-Ensure accuracy of contractual agreement for assigned suppliers
-Coordinate and support on-site supplier assessment and continuous improvement activities that drive down total cost and increase total supplier quality.
-Develop relationship with upper management at key suppliers
-Manage supplier escalations and improvement plans
-Assess supplier capacity and conduct risk analysis- capacity and financial
-Identify new and/or alternate sources of supply as necessary to support new product development, cost reduction requirements, and/or supplier performance issues.
-Evaluate medium to long-term supplier capabilities to optimize supply base deliverables
-Perform all necessary duties to support corporate goals as it relates to established supplier quality, total cost, and inventory objectives.
-Maintain a solid working knowledge of essential commodity trends including: industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead times, and technical/manufacturing processes.
-Support in the make vs. buy analysis through new program introduction/launch
Job qualifications and basic requirementsMinimum of 7+ years’ experience in mfg to include SCM (aerospace, automotive)
Experience with contract negotiation
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and globally
Analytical Skills - Data Analysis and Financial Analysis
Intermediate negotiation, written and verbal communication skills
Project Management experience
Inventory Management experience
Minimum of a 4 year BA/BS in business, technical or related field
